Sureline’s SUREedge-Migrator and SUREedge-DR are now available as Blueprints in CenturyLink. SUREedge technology allows CenturyLink customers to rapidly migrate any workload from physical or virtual systems into the CenturyLink Cloud, or use the CenturyLink Cloud as a DR site.
SUREedge removes the complexity associated with onboarding and DR. It enables IT personnel to follow a planned, controlled operation of migration and DR.
SUREedge allows you to capture ANY system image and recover on CenturyLink Cloud. SUREedges’ capability to do incremental capture and updates allows to you migrate, test, apply final incremental updates, and cut-over with minimal or zero downtime. SUREedge’s ultra-bandwidth friendly dedupe replication also allows customers to migrate workloads within reasonable periods, as well as build DR solutions with stringent RPO/RTO requirements cost effectively.

Enterprises typically have a heterogeneous environment running applications on physical systems and virtual systems with different hypervisors. Clouds, including CenturyLink, are typically built upon a standard hypervisor and underlying infrastructure. Any workload running on the Cloud must adhere to the standards of that Cloud. So while migrating workloads from on-prem to the Cloud, one must not only move data and applications but also convert it so that it is compatible with the Cloud.

How Does Migration Work?
To use SUREedge for onboarding to the CenturyLink Cloud, you must run an instance of SUREedge on-prem and on-CenturyLink Cloud. The on-prem instance provides the capability to capture and dedupe-replicate applications and data, while the on-Cloud instance acts as the receiver, storage and recovery manager in the Cloud. The on-Cloud instance can be created using the CenturyLink SUREedge-Migrator Blueprint. The on-prem instance can be created by downloading the software from Sureline’s download site.
Once the SUREedge instances are up and running the process is simple — add a list of systems (physical or VMs) to be migrated, create plans to move the systems in batches and execute the plan. Additionally, you can define consistency (or recovery groups), set different IP addresses, vCPU, and memory while recovering. SUREedge also allows you to do incremental capture and update so that you can migrate, test, apply final incremental updates, and cut-over with minimal or zero down-time.
DR TO CENTURYLINK CLOUD WITH SUREedge-DR
SUREedge and CenturyLink Cloud offer a very cost effective DR solution for enterprises. The solution allows you to take true advantage of the Cloud by using only what-you-need and paying for what-you-use during normal operations. SUREedge does not require hot standby systems in the Cloud for DR, but still provides aggressive RPO and RTO, thus keeping the costs of operations optimal.

How Does DR Work?
To use SUREedge for DR to the CenturyLink Cloud, you must run an instance of SUREedge on-prem, and on CenturyLink Cloud. The on-prem instance provides the capability to capture and dedupe-replicate applications and data, while the on-Cloud instance acts as the receiver, storage and DR manager in the Cloud. The on-Cloud instance can be created using the CenturyLink SUREedge-DR blueprint. The on-prem instance can be created by downloading the software from Sureline’s download site.
Once the SUREedge instances are up and running it is easy to add a list of systems (physical or VMs) that need a DR. You then create plans that define the desired RPO/RTO and frequency of updates. Additionally, you can define consistency (or recovery groups), set different IP addresses, vCPU, and memory while recovering, if needed.
Depending on your RTO objectives, SUREedge will maintain:
Pre-built VMs: SUREedge will automatically pre-build VM images with most recent updates and make them ready for Instant Recovery (the VMs are not powered on).
Ready-to-build VMs: VM images are still kept in dedupe storage with minimal footprint. These are ready to be built and all pre-processes will be executed before instancing. This is the most cost effective solution for systems that do not have stringent RTO.
SUREedge allows you to recover in a DR test environment or a DR environment, thus enabling you to conduct DR tests without any disruption to production environment.
OFFICE 365® E-MAIL DATA MANAGEMENT USING SUREedge O365
SUREedge and CenturyLink Cloud offer a flexible Office 365® e-mail data management solution for enterprises. The solution allows you to take true advantage of the Cloud by providing long-term protection of just the mailboxes that you want protected and the ability to restore individual messages, entire mailboxes, or restore them to another server for activities such as legal hold or compliance purposes.
How Does SUREedge O365 Work?
To use SUREedge for protecting your Office 365® Mailbox to the CenturyLink Cloud, you run SUREedge on CenturyLink Cloud. This acts as the receiver, storage and DR manager in the Cloud. The on-Cloud instance is created using the CenturyLink SUREedge O365 blueprint. In the SUREedge UI, simply add a list of mailboxes that need protection. You then define the policy on frequency of updates and your O365 mail is being protected.
